LATEST ARRIVALS:
Alog - Amateur 2LP (Rune Grammofon 2007) 160 NOK / 23.5 US
Some of the techniques that Alog invented for their excellent ”Miniatures” album have now been refined and developed on “Amateur”, their fourth album for Rune Grammofon. It was recorded on various locations in the western and northern parts of Norway, often using instruments found or built for the sole purpose of this recording. These sessions were subsequently worked on in the studio to bring out the unique spirit of the “Amateur”. This spirit is characterized by a curious and fresh approach to playing that is often lost in the process of becoming a virtuoso on a singular instrument. The result is also quite unique and once again Alog have delivered an extraordinary album. Needless to say, it comes highly recommended. Comes as a beautiful and limited LP in gatefold sleeve.

Goodiepal - Narc Beacon CD (Skipp 2004) 100 NOK / 14.75 US $
The wizard of Denmark, Kristian Vester doing his thing. "It's kinda like Os Mutantes cut up to the tune of the The Price Is Right theme song. Or, better yet, it's like Bavarian folk music underscored with some of the most hyperkinetically fun digital signal processing this side of Dat Politics. Narc Beacon is deranged, disconcerting, and totally inspiring--like the best bits of Zappa with all his lame "musicianship" edited out. Who would have thought that such imagination could emanate from a genre known mostly for its monochromaticism?" - Nick Phillips / City Pages
Goodiepal - Circulation Of Events - VIP.IBEX 1992-1995 CD (Spoof 2006) 100 NOK / 14.75 US $
"Entitled "circulation of events" this is an early constellation of Goodiepal / Gaeoudjiparl recordings from 1992-1995. Reclaimed from the Danish vaults. Repacked in exclusive Miss Le Bomb dust jacket for the year 2005. All of the tracks were recorded between 1992 and 1995 showing a glimpse of the madness about to unfold. Copies of this release were recently discovered in a basement in Denmark, ten years after its initial release."
Huntsville - For The Middle Class CD (Rune Grammofon 2006) 150 NOK / 22 US $
"Huntsville is the trio of Ivar Grydeland, Tonny Kluften and Ingar Zach. Grydeland and Zach founded the Sofa label for impovised music in 2000 and appear together and in various projects on several of the label´s releases. They have worked with Kluften since 1998, as the core of improvising ensemble No Spaghetti Edition. Huntsville contrasts sharply with their earlier work, and on the evidence of ”For The Middle Class”, reveals a quite different, more groove-based approach with strong elements of composition. Musically there are traces from folk, country, Indian ragas contemporary music and more, resulting in an original and highly intriguing blend of instrumental approaches. "
Jazkamer - Eat Shit CD (Asspiss Records 2007) 100 NOK / 14.75 US $
Eat shit indeed! Pegs from the plenty.
Knudsen, Jørgen - Wealth CD (Quasipop 2006) 120 NOK / 17.5 US $
´First solo album from Jørgen Knudsen who was a founding member of Information. Generally speaking, “Wealth” has no typical style or even its own specific sound, this recocd reflects the Jørgen's interests in developing music in many different directions at the same time. Follows its name, “Wealth” is a surrealistic blend of natural sounds and field-recordings, acoustic instruments, exotic voices, delicate melodies in “Thai pop” style, different found sounds and noises.´

Collecting selected tracks from Lasse´s tape-releases in the 90´s, this is some kind of document. 47 pieces of slashing sounds; scummy, sweet and mind-expanding. MoHa! - Norwegianism LP (Rune Grammofon 2007) 160 NOK / 23.5 US
´Out of Norway's super-fertile impro scene, MoHa! are boldly leading the way with a sound that encompasses the best of rock, free jazz and electronic music. Despite the enormity and broad spectrum of sounds that constitute their unique style, it is the work of just two talented young men, Anders Hana (24) on guitar, obsolete electronics and a pallete of effects pedals, and Morten J. Olsen (25) on drums, triggering a multitude of noises from each skin and cymbal using custom built software. Having played together in various projects for close to 10 years, they have developed a high level of control and understanding in their musical communication. They compliment and confront each other, with sharp and mechanical movements on one hand, free flowing and loose gestures on the other. It´s a real scorcher; short, intense, to the point and brimming with head explosions, youthful energy and urgency.´ This is the limited vinyl edition printed 500 copies.

Pettibon, Raymond / Oliver Augst / Christoph Korn / Rüdiger Carl / Otomo Yoshihide - Long live the People of the Revolution CD (Eventuell 2006) 150 NOK / 22 US $
"Based on the writings of such 1920s revolutionaries as solialist writer Bruno Schönlank and anti-fascist author/playwright Ernst Toller, artist and musician Raymond Petttibon (best remembered for the cover art for Sonic Youth's Goo)
pays personal tribute to their work with the help of Oliver Augst, Rüdiger Carl, Christoph Korn an Otomo Yoshihide. Mostly, this is a warm and affectionate
personal project that captures the atmosphere of that politically turbulent period
before the Third Reich silenced dissenting voices in Germany.
Musically Pettibon's delivery owes much to Jandek, as he drawls laconically over
a loosely strummed guitar. But things pick up on Schönlank's "Hipp Hopp", where
he is joined on turntables and sampling by Yoshihide for a bout of noisemaking that
allows for a more contemporary edge. The album is punctuated with orginal
recordings of Schönlank, Willi Leow and Bertolt Brecht, which transport you back
to the beating heart of the revolution." - Edwin Pouncey, The Wire
Pumice - Pipi´s / Onion Union lathe-cut 7" (CMR 2006) 100 NOK / 14.75 US $
´Two fantastic live tracks by Stefan Neville recorded in 2005 at two of New Zealands best bars. Sits in the noisier spectrum of the Pumice career which spans probably 15 years or so.´ Pressed in 60 copies in the familiar blue textured paper-sleeve from NZ-label CMR.
School, The - Mädchen EP 2x7" (Crispin Glover 2006) 85 NOK / 12.5 US $
"...they find themselves perfectly situated with one foot in Berlin 1976-77 and the other in Manchester 1979-80.....The sound is razor-sharp with a dark and pounding undertone that might scare some away, yet for most it exudes that warm fuzzy feeling. Impressive." - N&D
Sevendal, Fredrik Ness - No Foly Bow CD (Apartment Records / Humbug 2007) 100 NOK / 14.75 US $
Fredrik Ness Sevendal has been a part of the experimental music scene in Norway for around 10 years and plays in bands like DEL, Slowburn, Kobi, We Snakes, and Norwegian Noise Orchestra. As a solo artist he has released a couple of 7"'s, a CD-r and a collaboration LP (with Bill Wood) and can be found on various compilations. "No foly Bow" is his first full-lenght CD and might be a little step out of the obscurity. Much of his work is based around free-noise and guitar-drones. There is drones on this CD too, though this record has got a more various and melodic content. Some songs are humble and quiet guitar-tunes while others are filled with strumming accoustic instruments and layers of fiddle-like sounds inspired by the repetative tunes of Norwegian folk music. There is also a couple of more melodic lo-fidelity pop tracks, but with only occasional vocal sounds. Common for the songs on this CD is the homespun production, the love of guitar and other string-instruments, knob-turning and effects. Most of the songs have seen the light of day trough improvisation. Fredrik has also collaborated with people like New Zealand guitarist Bill Wood (1/3 Octave Band), Makoto Kawabata (Acid Mothers Temple..etc.), Mitsuru Tabata (Zeni Geva etc.), and Mark Francombe (Ex-Cranes/Uncle Ian), Lasse Marhaug, Crazy River..among others.
Skaters, The - Dark Rye Bread LP (Humbug 2004) 100 NOK / 14.55 US $
"Much-requested limited reissue of this early Skaters vinyl/CD-R release: Dark Rye Bread is a reissue of a key early CD-R, originally released on Nature Tape Limb. The combination of octave-shredding distortion, wowing loops and inspired free vocal flow makes this a particularly ecstatic acid-test for fans of Hototogisu, Angus MacLise, Double Leopards, Milky Way-era Haino etc... Limited hand-numbered edition of 500 copies, with insert and pro-printed sleeve. Highly recommended."
Susanna and the Magical Orchestra - Melody Mountain CD (Rune Grammofon 2006) 150 NOK / 22 US $
"Singer Susanna Wallumrød has a unique way of making a song her own, and to fill the lyrics and melodies with the emotional content they require. This was made very clear with her stunning interpretation of Dolly Parton´s classic ”Jolene”, recorded for the duo´s debut album ”List Of Lights and Buoys” (2004). A song covered by many artists, but seldom with such heartfelt sincerity. With ”Melody Mountain” they have chosen to do an album of only interpretations, some quite radical, of mostly well-known songs, all personal and moving performances with Morten Qvenild´s naked and to the bone playing an important part in the overall soundscape. Full track list includes ”Hallelujah” (Leonard Cohen), ”It´s A Long Way To The Top” (AC/DC), ”These Days” (Matt Burt) "Condition Of The Heart" (Prince), "Love Will Tear Us Apart" (Joy Division), "Crazy, Crazy Nights" (Kiss), "Don´t Think Twice, It´s All Right" (Bob Dylan), "It´s Raining Today" (Scott Walker), "Enjoy The Silence" (Depeche Mode) and "Fotheringay" (Fairport Convention)."
Susanna and the Magical Orchestra - List of Lights and Buoys CD (Rune Grammofon 2004) 150 NOK / 22 US $
"Absolutely brilliant debut release from young Norwegian duo consisting of Susanna Wallumrød (vocals) and Morten Qvenild (keyboards). Nine beautiful low key original songs plus highly personal interpretations of Dolly Parton«s "Jolene" and Leonard Bernstein«s "Who Am I" makes this one of the strongest Norwegian debut releases in a very long time. If you´ve heard "Believer" (also included here) from "Money Will Ruin Everything" you know what to expect. Produced by Andreas Mjøs (Jaga Jazzist) and Deathprod."

Ultralyd - Conditions For A Piece Of Music LP (Rune Grammofon 2007) 160 NOK / 23.5 US $
'Ultralyd is Kjetil Møster (The Core) on sax, Anders Hana (MoHa!) on guitar, Kjetil D. Brandsdal (Noxagt) on bass and Morten J. Olsen (MoHa!) on drums and vibraphone. This is their third album since the band was formed by legendary sax player Frode Gjerstad in 2004. Gjerstad left after their second album ”Chromosome Gun” (Load Records) to be replaced by Møster. During two extensive European tours and several studio sessions Ultralyd's direction has slowly changed from a rather chaotic free rock approach towards composition and more structured forms of improvisation, experimenting with different layers and altered roles of the instruments, integrating elements from contemporary and electronic music, funk and doom metal and ending up with an album that might be classified as something akin to the improvised chamber rock King Crimson were doing around 1973.'
This is the limited vinyl edition printed 500 copies.
